I am an adoptive mother to a 11 month old girl. I have just read many of the old threads. I find a lot of information from adoptees raised during the closed era, but almost none from those raised in an open adoption. Perhaps it's too soon for these children to be adults.
Are there any adoptees here who were raised in open adoptions? What information can you share that would help us raise our daughter?
So far we've met with birthmom, grandma, adolescent siblings a couple times. I email updates monthly and send birthday cards. Sometimes birthmom replies, sometimes she doesn't. They are a very nice family who clearly love the baby. They are very respectful of us as the parents.
Hi go to the adoptive parents categorie and look down the list there is a forum called researching open adoption. Maybe that can help you.

I'll check there, but I would really like the experiences of an adult adoptee. So far our OA is going great, but I would love to hear stories from those who've BTDT on what we could do that we're not.
