Well, it really began last week, that's when our dossier was finally sent to Poland.
I know there is a lot to do to prepare, but this week I started really feeling the impact of what waiting is going to be like. We were so busy with all the paperwork that the adoption was pretty much all we thought about. Now we are pretty much back to what we were doing before starting the process.
Is anyone else on here waiting?
On the positive side, we have a lot of time to prepare and learn Polish. My grandpa got us Rosetta Stone as a birthday present (both our birthdays are next week), and I think it will be very helpful.

We just got back with our little girl so we aren't waiting. But I remember what it feels like so wanted to say - hang in there. It was hard to wait and not hear anything.
Good luck with the Polish. My husband is convinced that it combines the most difficult structures of the German and Russian into one language. The Rosetta stone is a great program and one that you can use with your child (children) once you are home. My son used it when he was just 3 for Spanish and 4 for Russian.
I'm going to clean up the list of words that our daughter used at 4 and post it in case it is useful to others.

Pray for your future child/children and other than that just forget what's going on. I know, quite the contradiction . . .
It is very easy to slip into a pattern of playing the 'what if' game - just dreaming about who is coming to your family, what the child is like, the problems, the blessings, etc. It will make you crazy if you don't control it the best that you can.
While you're pretending that nothing's going on (HA!), read every book on international adoption that you can find. If you don't already have children, start reading up on parenting. Find children whom you like, watch their parents, and talk to them. If you are as well studied on the subjects as possible, and ready for the worst, you will we better prepared, pleasantly surprised, and ready for anything when the time comes for you to meet your son or daughter.
Hi! Yes, we are waiting AND new to this forum...trying to find out how long others have been waiting and I guess our 1 year isn't so long. But, it is so tough.
Yeah, now it's been nice to start ticking off the months. Only 3 months now, but it's gone fast, so not feeling as bad. Trying to learn Polish, and we still have a Hague education DVD to watch, so there is plenty to do.
I'm hoping we will be able to finalize before the end of next year, though I feel like the chances are slim.
Has anyone heard anything about the tax credit being extended? I feel like we will end up missing it by only a month or two, if it does not get extended.
