My husband and I are trying to figure out where to adopt our second child from. We'd prefer Latin America, but we want a child as young as possible. Originally I thought Colombia would be a good option, but then we ruled it out because DH is 39 and we really want an infant. But I am only 32. Any chance we could get an infant??? Thanks in advance!

My guess if you went through the ICBF you would be on the 0-3 year old list. So that would not guarantee an infant. If you apply to a Casa, you might be able to adopt a bit younger. Check with some agencies and see what they think. I am not sure when you husband is turning 40, but they usually go with the age you submit your Dossier to them.

To add to what Donna said, usually the age of the primary caregiver is given the most consideration, so if that would be you, and you are only 32, you would probably still qualify for an infant. However, an "infant" by Colombia's standards is any child 0-35 months. We are adopting from a casa for the second time, and in the past the casas have typically placed young infants (our daughter was 5 months old at placement), but this time around we had to sign a form stating that we agreed to adopt a child up to 35 months. I still think we will probably get a baby, but we are prepared to adopt an older toddler too if that should be what is referred to us.
My husband and I are trying to adopted his cousin from Colombia he is going to be 15 soon. My husband is 25 and I am 23. We are trying to do this on our own without an agency. His mom is willing to sign him over to us. I have no idea how to go about this process. The boy is in a sad situation, without a future. I don't know if our age will be a problem. We have a birth child already, she is 3. We are able to afford this and we have been married 5 years.
