I am not loving this whole airlifting 'orphans' to the US anyway, but is ok to post things like this?

Is it just the newspaper article? Or is it agency related?
We can't avoid news articles about it and general discussion. Agency stuff still has to go though and we won't allow any postings of available situations. "I know a 2 year old needing a home" etc.
What I'm unclear on this whole orphans to US thing in general is are they coming here just to be fostered? Or is the US breaking every rule in the book allowing them in droves to be quickly adopted and no looking for bfamilies and all that stuff?

I am unclear also. At first it was just children whose adoptions were basically complete and were waiting on passports, visas, etc.
Now this, though it isn't clear. (At least to me.) Someone forwarded me an email a few hours ago about this group coming to IN and it sounded like an agency and the email said the children would be here one-four months. Though it wasn't clear about then what. Or what the children's status was. Or . . .
Crick is having PC issues - I repled and closed the thread - we're talking a tiny hand full of kids coming to the states at this point - most of which have been in the adoption process and will be united with their adoptive families upon arrival.I haven't said this out on forums - we there are reports, in the adoption community, of people using this "Operation Orphan Import" as a money making scam - people are creating blogs and talking about all the work they're doing - getting donations etc (and even one report that Julianna is involved in emotional scamming) with the reality being they aren't involved at all. This is a ripe time for scammers. Ripe. We MUST be careful...only allow links to known organizations.
From what I have heard they are allowing children who already had identified adoptive families. There will also be a few children brought on emergency medical visas. These children will be with foster families while they recieve medical treatment after which they will return to Haiti. Once they return they will either be reunited with family or placed in an orphanage. If they go to an orphanage they may eventually become eligible for adoption and likely the parents who fostered them would have the option but they would have to go through normal adoption procedures and paperwork. Meanwhile the child woul stay in Haiti.
The thing is, from that post and the replies to it, as well as the email I received today, it seems to have expanded beyond just those with identifed adoptive families.
This is the email I received that corresponds to the posts in question
Safe Families Safe Families - Welcome is looking for host families for 300 Haitian orphans arriving in Indianapolis tomorrow (1/20/10). I do not have all the details other than the children are orphans (unsure if it is recent), are ages 1-11yo, and placements would be for 1-4 months. I have been told that the children will arrive in just underwear..........
If you are interested - please contact me. I have asked for more details and hopefully will have them tomorrow.
Families need recent background checks - or preferably recent homestudies (done within the past 2-3 years are preferred). Financial donations can also be made.
Please pray for these precious children.........that God would stir hearts and provide what these children need - a safe haven from the trauma they have experienced.
Blessings,

And see - MLK isn't even approved for Haiti adoption. This is one of the agencies being accused of 'riding the wave' - doing lots of 'talk' about it, collecting contacts then marketing their available programs. There are severa domestic only facilitators and agencies doing this.I am not making accusations - but right now, we can't promote these on the site - we have no idea who is real and who isn't.MLK knows how to contact us - we've made offers to do free marketing for those assiting with the Haiti stuff - no agencies have contacted us (and it's because USCIS has stated, these kids aren't for adoption (there is no money in it for them))
Sorry, I noticed I was typing MLK, when I meant MLJ.I wanted to point out - the day you posted this, I looked at their website, they had their programs listed - Haiti was not one of them.Check their site today - it is.I don't know what is going on with them - but they've also caught the attention of at least one major news org (who has contacted me) and the DoS - so this can't be good.

My husband was pointing out an article to me last night on CNN about the children who are coming to the US are ones whose adoptions are complete and don't expect to be able to adopt from there soon and generally further explaining the USCIS statement about 'expediting' adoptions.
MLJ rings a bell with me. I'll check the database of the Adoption_Agency_Research Yahoo group and see if they are on there. And what the feedback is. Just the fact that they have now added Haiti to their list is disturbing.
