I've noticed that in my local Polish adoptive parent group that we are very close to being the people who have been home the longest with our kids. (June 2004). Anybody here has had their children longer?
Most days, I can't believe it has been that long. It seems like last week we got them.
The time after adoption flies by inversely to the time passing during the wait.
No, we've only been home for 2 years.
In our case the waits were difficult, and the first two years of getting past the lying were equally difficult, just in different ways. However, we are reaping the huge benefits of consistency and just may be over that hump. (Seven year itch? Two year hump?)
I've noticed a lot of people come for the 'getting through the adoption process' part of things. But then once the children are home, the forum participants 'go home' as well. I'm certainly not 'around' like I used to be.

We certainly don't qualify for being home the longest at only just over 4 months! I love hearing about families settling in and hearing the stories over the years.
In some ways it seems like three days ago that we came home, but looking back at our photos from last summer in Poland and from coming home, it is clear K has grown SO much! It is thrilling to see progress and see her grow and become more attached to us all the time. :)
And speaking of attachment....K is SO attached to me and clingy. It can be tough for dad and extended family. We try to work on her confidence and independence, but we are mostly happy she is feeling secure and comfortable in her new home.
In any event...I still lurk around here quite a bit, but don't post as much. No reason not to...the people on this board are such great resources and support! Reminds me that I haven't done a blog post since we came home in September too. Ah well...life as a parent is a bit different that it was before!
As someone waiting I like to read posts from the people who have kids at home. I certainly understand posting less, because you guys are settling in to your new lives!
But I do like hearing about everything when it's here.
We've got several anniversaries in our family but our oldest is July 2001. I don't get to the board often anymore but Poland and adoptions are never far from our hearts.
Our oldest adoptee, Daniel, was 7 at the time we adopted him. He is now 15.5 and looking forward to getting his drivers license!! :drive: I honestly cannot remember a time when he was not a member of our family.
We've been home for not-quite a year. Although sometimes it feels like forever!

This Saturday we will have been home 2 years!!!! Our son just turned 4 and it is truly amazing how fast the time passes :-) I still remember the long wait for his referral (almost a year), and the long 7.5 weeks in Poland, but he is so worth every minute of the wait & every piece of paper we had to come up with, notarize, and apostille!!
For those still waiting, he is doing great! Language is better than his peers (I talk a lot!!), his physical skills are age appropriate, he gets along well with others, goes to preschool at our church Tues & Thurs, eats everything, and is just perfect for our family :hypno:
