I came across this short description this morning:
William of Rochester (William of Perth) (d. 1201). A native of Perth and a fisherman by trade, he experienced a conversion as a young man and devoted himself to the care of orphans and the poor, once saving from certain death an infant left at the door of the church. In accordance with a vow, he set off on pilgrimage to the Holy Land in 1201.
He took with him but one companion, a young man, who, after they reached Rochester, diverted him on a supposed short-cut and murdered him for his few possessions. His body was found by a madwoman, who garlanded it with honeysuckle and was cured of her madness through it. Other miracles were soon claimed. William was buried in Rochester cathedral, first in the crypt and then in the north-east transept, where offerings at his shrine contributed towards the rebuilding work of the cathedral.
In 1256 Laurence, bishop of Rochester, seems to have obtained some kind of papal approval of the cult. Recorded offerings at the shrine by King Edward I (1300) and Queen Philippa (1352) attest royal interest, while bequests of the 15th and 16th centuries are evidence for its continued local popularity.
St. William's hospital, on the road to Maidstone, marks the place of his death. Feast: (according to C.S.P.), 22 April; other authorities give 23 May.

Would you not pick a saint that reflects your calling or interests? It would seem more appropriate that adoption would be your mothers theme - unless you are also called to it.
Perhaps going through the link above will give you more info.
Kind regards,
Dickons
i have thought of of other saints to pick and ive been searching since september...but i always come back to st william...something pulls me back to him...yes my bmom would prob want him as her saint too...but adoption has been my life and i feel as if to work in the adoption field is wat i am called to so so i wanted to pick a saint reguarding adoption
Then you should pick that saint...and if you are called to work in the field of children or adoption...you should do it. Go for it!
Kind regards,
Dickons

There are a two other Patron Saints of Adoption too:
-St. Thomas More
-St. Clotilde (patron saint of adopted children)
Best of luck to you-
When I think of adoption, i always think of Mother Theresa. Not officially cononized yet, but still there are many great theresas that are canonized. I guess in a way St. Therese of Lisieux was adopted by her older sister when her mother died, so as an adoptee she would be a good pick. Her spirituality as laid out in her autobiography is a great source of practical ways we can all strive for perfection. Before she died she promised she would spend her heaven doing good upon earth, sending down a shower of roses...definitely a good patroness to have!
wow thanks you guys i have 2 mew saints i deff want to look at now..have about a month and a half before i get confirmed and really need to think about it
Congratulations on your confirmation! Keep doing wonderful things for the Church!!!
