Thought I would pass this on to the group. Very interesting article about Poland doing away with orphanages for children under the age of 7 by the beginning of next year. Age increasing to 10 by 2015. Our Polish adoptions have run the gamut from a state orphanage, a Catholic orphanage, and a foster home. We have found good and bad issues with all. Thoughts?

Our children's care wasn't perfect in the Dom Dzechi but at least they did know each other. I doubt that there are many foster families in Poland who are willing and able to take in sibling groups of 2 or 3 or more. I'm not sure why the Poles want to emulate broken the Foster Care system of the U.S. And if people are paid good money to foster children, will any one ever make the effort to free these kids up to be adopted in to forever family? Someone who adopted siblings a couple of years back ran into an issue where the foster family didn't want to lose the income that the children brought in. I've got a bad feeling about this. Can some of our native Poles tell us what the regular Polish press saying about this?

One of the references I talked to about her adoption from Poland told me they were headed this direction.
She seemed to think it might make current adoptions go faster. She said the foster care situations she witnessed while there seemed good.
It struck me as well, about finding foster families for all kids under 7. It hardly seems possible.
We just got our I-797 approval and hopefully will get a referral this year. I would like to be done before major changes are taking place - good or bad.
