This kind of links into cecegarrets question but didn't want to tag on to her post so made a different one.
We had our placement of 3 for almost 2 years and they went back to their mom a month ago today. We are really going crazy having an empty house plus we went through 2 tpr chances with these kids so we were on the may not happen but think about adoption if it does roller coaster for 2 years. We really miss these kids and think a new placement asap would help us to heal on them leaving.
We are in a small county and have been told they love us and are dying to use us again but there are no kids coming in. We are next to Marion county so we are wondering can we contact Marion county and see if they can/would use us or is this a taboo thing? We have been told we are already on the list for the other 3 surrounding counties as they need people too and we are licensed for 4 but they are also small in the country counties that don't get much activity lately.
What do you all think....call Marion and risk ticking them off or just wait longer? I personally know of people that have been empty for over a year..although they are way pickier on kid types than we are..but no way can we wait that long for a placement.
Is it even possible to jump to Marion county from another county if you still live in the other county?
Thanks for any info you all have
i can tell you what i've been told as recently as a couple of weeks ago when we had this issue come up.
theoretically it CAN be done, altho from what i was told, they don't always like to do it. meaning the county you are in, are not always in favor of taking a child from another county. don't ask me why, lol. i thought it may have to do with funding, but that's just a guess.
in either case, as long as you check with your licensing county first, it shouldn't be a problem.
hope this helps!

Thanks guys...on the up side I have had time to paint some rooms and clean my house really well. Got all the chores done and now its just lonely and too quiet without kids.
Thought I would update you all on this. We did get approved to go to marion county and the very day I called to make sure they go the information I got assigned a homefinder and was told to expect a call soon since we had openings for 4. Got a call later that
afternoon to go pick up 4 girls (they have 2 brothers in another home). They have been here for 9 days and so far every day has gotten a bit better. They definetly have issues we aren't used to mostly because they are older. 11,9,8 and just turned 3. No idea how long to expect them to stay but hoping it keeps getting better every day.
Wishing you the very best! I have two that I've had a little more than two years and they are due to likely go home anytime now. I know when it happens it is going to be rough, I plan to just focus on work at the daycare for a while and also focus on the 3 yr old that I adopted. After some time, I will consider opening up to taking more. Best of wishes for the new kiddos you have.
