Just wondering from Indiana BTDT foster parents.......After termination trial ended, how long did you wait for the judges decision? Was it taken "under advisement"? I understand they are suppose to make a decision within 90 days........but I dont want to bank on that if it is not what usually happens.
Our trial ended in Feb. We are within days of the "90Days" and have heard nothing. Im getting nervous. Not so much about the decision, but that this will just keep dragging on.
Just wanted to hear from others about their wait time.
Thank You

Have you checked with your CW,has SHE checked the computer for the Judge's Ruling? It took another 3 weeks to get the Ruling in the mail.

The CW said she checks "online" everyday. I was expecting the news to come from her. She said she will be at the courthouse today and will check to see where they are in the process. I hope some news comes soon. I lost my momma last month at age 63, 4 weeks after she was diagnosed with cancer. Mother's Day was hard and I was so hoping for the good news. My mom would have rejoiced in Heaven at knowing her little J would be here forever.
I'm trying to be patient.......but its been 2 years!!!!!

Ours took slightly longer than the 90 days to render his decision-TPR denied. TPR was immediately filed again.
Where are you now? Waiting on a new TPR date or did you already go thru it & win?
Sorry to hear about your Mother, that's rough. It's great she got to know him before she passed, what special memories.
Hang on, it will come. We are still waiting for paperwork to go to probate for his adoption, 4 months later, then will be waiting for a court date - so the waiting just continues!

ice kitty- i will be praying about your upcoming tpr trial. May the judge put your little ones best interest first. I didnt have to testify in our trial but I imagine you may feel a little nervous about it (I would). Hold strong and you'll do fine. Best wishes.
Thank you everyone for the well wishes. I havent heard the word "appeal" yet and were at day 12 out of 30.
thanks momma....i am totally nervous and this was totally unexpected, so thanks for the prayers...i will need them.
I've had to testify in both my boys TPR trials.. The second one was harder for me for some reason.. I was just more nervous.. Ironically that was the one that we lost- so BM & I had to continue to talk after I testified against her.. It was akward to say the least. Thankfully she didn't hold a grudge bc she knew I was just telling the truth..

I have testified more than I ever imagined I would! Just be honest and only answer as briefly and directly as you can when being questioned by bios lawyers. They will go out of their way to make you the bad guy who went out of your way to interfere with RU and caused DCS to side with "you wanting to adopt". When questioned by DCS you can give a few more details depending on their line of questioning.
Go over with the DCS lawyer about the questions he/she has for you and what type of documentation they need from you. A small photo album with the key events in his life is good too. Pictures are worth a million words in these cases! Keep it to 10-15 pics from beginning to current so they can see the time span.
When questioned about if you want to adopt him say "Yes, if the court feels termination of parental rigths is in his best interest, we/I would like to adopt him". Make it less about you and more about the judge's decision to TPR.
If you have more questions feel free to call me! If you need my number again, PM me! Good luck!

lakin- thanks for all the great advice....i know i will need it. i have a phone meeting with the dcs atty coming up soon, so i might give you a ring after i speak to them, since you so generously offered, lol. :flower:
ugh. i just hope its over quickly, but something tells me it won't be.
thanks again!
just to update everyone.....mom signed consents on june 4th, literally RIGHT before i went into the court room, so NO ONE had to testify!!!!
not that it was very pretty or nice. she said not a word to me and when we got outside the case manager attempted to talk to her and she started cursing everyone out.....just.....not pretty, man. *sighs*
but.....you should have seen the look on that kid's face when i told him this was his forever home. i just never knew at such a young age those words made a difference....but its been a week and he is still on cloud nine. he has even started taking care of a stuff rat he calls his baby and has named him baby rex, which, for a kid with rad....pretty darn big deal.
it's like the weight of the world has been removed from his shoulders. shoulders too tiny to carry all that around anyway.
almost 2 years he has been with me....this is a long time coming.
