Dawn,
I have no magic solution for you. For several days preceeding my daughter's birthday, I would feel myself slipping into a "funk". I just tried to be kind to myself on the actual day (you know, maybe go to a movie or eat out...). I preferred to be alone, but I think that was because there was no one supportive to help me through. And of course, you can come here and get support from your new cyber-friends!
Hang in there, you are not along... BTW, Monday's my birthday too, so I'll think of your son and share my wishes with him.

Until I found my son a couple of years ago, I always went into a serious funk.
Some first moms actually celebrate their child's birthday by having a cake and blowing out candles for them.
Allow yourself to feel what you feel, and know that it's ok you feel that way. It's hard when so much of society says 'aren't you over this yet?' but we never get 'over' it.
Take care of yourself!
The first 10 years of my son's life were hard. I would be depressed for a week or more surrounding his birthday. After that I would be a little down around his birthday but still greive really hard on his birthday. His 18th birthday about killed me. I am so sorry that you are hurting and wished I had some advice for you. I will send you some hugs and a prayer on Monday.
