Yup. Very suspicious. I googled her to see if I could find a link between her and the author. Didn't find anything, but I am not great at the detective work.
Definetly suspicious to me though.

Likely spam...but we'll see if she actually discusses. If she doesn't reply within 48 hours, we'll just delete and ban.
Well, she is back and discussing. I think there is more to her than she is letting on, but she is participating respectfully. While Dickons and I argue. ;)

LOL! Well, Brook started the last trouble so it seemed to be my turn. ;)
I swear I didn't think Dickons would get so bent out of shape about my post. But I also didn't shut up and walk away either. :D I really think she just likes to argue. But at least she does it pleasantly!
What is interesting to me about Unicef is that they have a hand or opinion on adoption anyway? If their purpose is to make life better in 3rd world countries, then they should do just that and shut up about anything else.
Hard to do that though when their board makes so much money? At least that's what I heard? You'd know if that's correct.

AMEN!
My personal opinion is that there is a huge political and PR aspect to their actions. They look good when they can swoop in and 'protect' the people of a third world country from all of the horrible Americans taking part in corrupt adoptions and stealing their children. Obviously I exaggerate, but to the average person who knows nothing about adoption who is reading about the situation in the paper, Unicef comes off as a savior of the people of that country and ever so wonderful. But you don't see anyone asking, so, two years after Guatemala closed, what is Unicef doing for the children and their families now?

I have mixed feelings about the salaries of CEOs of large charities in general. It would be wonderful if an independently wealthy individual with an extensive background in business would step up and run a charity for free, but it isn't a reality. These are multi-million dollar, international businesses and not just anyone is capable of running them. Do I hope that they themselves donate a goodly portion of their salary to their's or another charity? Yes. Do I think that they don't deserve that salary? I dont' know.
