almost 5 yo DD started crying 1/2 through this movie. i had no idea it was so scary. did anyone else have this experience? we had to leave the theater.
she's seen movies before-princess and the frog was our first and it seemed a lot scarier to me.
just curious if anyone else had this experience.
it definitely did have some scary parts....i don't know that i will own it. but my kids (7,4, and 2) did not seem scared or bothered when we saw it.....but i would not have been shocked if they had.

my 5 year old was scared of the bear. she didnt say anything until bed time, but we've since had 2 late nights over that bear
My DD "S" is 5 and we saw the movie... She was fine w/ it. HOWEVER.... do you remember what part upset your child?
"S" loves scary movies and violent movies. Her fav movie of all time is Narnia. She has seen Avatar and Transformers and enjoyed... BUT we went to see Karate Kid and she "HATED IT!" It upset her horribly. The mean boy / bully in it really upset her. She cried and begged not to go to daycare the next friday after the movie because classmate was going to bring for movie time. Very unlike her!
I got old KK movie and we watched together and discussed. I wanted to understand what upset her and talk it thru.
Obviously might not be the right approach for every situation. So I would not take ur child to see TS3 again but I would try to discuss what was so upsetting 4 her if possible!? I know @ 5 it is hard for them to articulate exactly what upset them.
yes, it was that bear, as a previous poster said. she was also tired. i appreciate the "working through it" part, but i think i'll wait until it comes out on netflix. thanks everyone.
My daughter got a little scared and climbed into my lap. (She's 4 years old.) We snuggled and kept watching the movie. After the movie, I asked her if she was scared by parts and she said yes. I then talked about the ending and how great it was. She had gotten a little choked up by the ending so it really affected her.
We say Toy Story 3 THREE times in the theater!

My boys were not afraid, but the excitement was pretty intense for them. I own it on dvd and EVERY TIME I watch it I cry at the end. We've probably watched it two dozen times.... I cry every time. No kidding.
Depending on your/your daughters situation . . . there is an abandonment theme there with the bear, big baby and the other doll. Might have triggered something as well.
