HB1463 Expand Access / Confidential Intermediary was signed into law by Governor Perdue and will go into effect on October 1, 2010
This bill will allow Siblings and full siblings of adult adoptees, Adult Family members of deceased adoptees and adult family members of a deceased biological parent to have access to the confidential intermediary services upon the consent of the parties.
It will also allow adult adoptees age 18 and over to utilize the confidential intermediary services. They will not have to be 21 any longer.
Also, it will allow adoption agencies who act as a CI to obtain a copy of the death certificate if someone they search for is found to be deceased.
