This is a long shot, but I figured I would try it. I was born on May 3rd 1982 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria, IL. I was told my birth mother was around 15 when she had me.

Hi - if you haven't registered with IARMIE yet, you should. Do you know what agency was used? Do you adoptive parents have a copy of the final decree of adoption? Do you have non ID information? I am a search angel in IL and will be happy to help you as much as I can.

No I haven't registered on there yet. I don't have any information or my original birth certificate. I am planning on getting a copy of that soon so I can start finding out information to use in my search. Thank you very much for your offer. I will register on that site and try to get as much info as I can and maybe you can point me in the right avenues I should be taking in my search.
You won't be able to get your original b/c, just your amended one with your adoptive name and info. You can however register with the state at Illinois Vital Records - Adoption Records - you will need to print the forms and mail them - the fee is waived if you include your medical history. If you know what adoption agency was used, you should contact them for non identifying information about your mother - things such as her age, description, parents, siblings etc may be included. If your parents don't have a copy of the decree, they can request one from the court in the county of your adoption. This should have at least your birth surname listed, and possibly your mother's first name. You are entitled to this by law.
Starting on November 15, 2011, any adult adopted or surrendered person who was born in Illinois on or after January 1, 1946, may request a non-certified copy of his or her original birth certificate.

Well, yes, I know that law has been signed - but it's over a year away for all adoptees - only available to those born pre 1946 at the present time.
If an adoptee gets the non ID info and/or the final decree it's very possible to find a birth family before the law takes effect. As a Search Angel I have seen this happen numerous times. It just takes that one right piece of information!!!
