Hoping someone can provide me with some information. I am a non relative of a little girl who's mother is addicted to drugs. She was born at the end of Aug -2010. Currently, she is staying with the Grandmother who may not be able to keep her. She may end up being taking from the home. However, because I am a non relative what are my rights to keep her in the case her birth mother does abide the case plan that has been set up for her?
I really want this little girl to grow up in a stable household. Please provide any information that you can.
Non-relatives can sometimes be considerd for kinship placement, assuming there is a defined relationship
Your other option is to be named guardian prior to DCYF involvement. Mother would need to be willing to do this
Third option is to wait until child is pulled, then express an interest to the caseworker. It especially helpful if you begin the foster licensing process prior to the child being pulled
