Please help me to understand this .
Hopefully, it's not impolite to ask.
For autism, RAD, learning disabilities, ADHD, or behavior problems,
do you think the intensity will be more the longer children are in the orphanage?
An other word do you think the likelihood of this deficiency is greater if the child is in an orphanage for a long period of time?
I do recall that one of the pieces of research I'd read somewhere amidst the blizzard of stuff had found that the longer that an adoptee is institutionalized, the higher the chance of behavioural problems. Not a definite, but higher likelihood.
If you want to know more, have a read of:
1. John Bowlby, "Maternal Care and Mental Health"
2. Brodzinsky et al, "Being Adopted: The Lifelong Search for Self" - includes research on ADHD and learning disorders
3. Nancy Verrier, "The Primal Wound"
4. Evan B Donaldson Institute research (various articles, particularly the one called, "Beyond Culture Camp" which includes a literature/research review of over 100 separate references, including those on mental health stuff; also the article, "Adoption in the Schools: A Lot to Learn").

I just found a comprehensive article that's written by Relationships Australia - the article covers a lot of issues about intercountry adoptees, as well as addresses questions about the possible effects of institutionalization (eg. RAD). Excellent reading for teachers, parents and adoptees.
