Hello fellow readers! I moved the thread this year to Chit Chat, since that's really what we're doing - and I want to make sure that EVERYONE feels welcome to post no matter what side of the triad they're on! :) I know this isn't the most heavily trafficked forum, but hopefully my favorite reading gals (and guys - are you out there!) will still be stopping by!
My goal last year was to read 50 books, and I was so excited when I realized that I miscounted a couple times and didn't end up with 52 books, but 54!!! (Though my fiance only calls it 53 since I technically didn't finish #54 until the morning on Jan 1, but I'm willing to stretch the truth a little!!!)
My first book of the year is "Gloryland" by Shelton Johnson. I'm only a few pages into it, but I got it from LB's grandma for Christmas - she gave each family a copy of her favorite book from the year, which I thought was a neat gift idea!!!
I'm sticking to my goal of 50 books - figure with the wedding coming up I shouldn't go crazy unrealistic on my goals :)
So who's in for another reading thread!?!?!?!

Hope to have some of the long weekend to read, we'll see.
I'm sorry you didn't like the Help, I think it was a strong book, one I'm glad I read, but I've been surprised with all the hype on it.
37. The Red Thread by Ann Hood
38. Moloka'i - I really appreciated your recommendation of it TGM and quite enjoyed it. I've seemed to start preferring fiction based in a historic place or a historic event.
39. Sweet Jiminy by Kristin Gore - Really enjoyed this as well. This is a different kind of book than her normal reads (if you like good comedic chic lit her first book, Sammy's Hill, is a must read) but even with this serious book I quite enjoyed it.

I think there was another but I cannot remember the name off the top of my head at the moment. Overtime has started again.
35. The Pioneer Woman by Ree Drummond - This is an autobiography written by a woman who fell in love with a "cowboy" and gave up her big city dreams to marry him and live on his ranch. Snooze.
36. The Peach Keeper by Sarah Addison Allen - this was ok - two women trying to unravel family secrets type of thing.
I'm about 2/3 through The Help and I'm really enjoying it. I didn't have much interest either way, but there's a little library at work for the senior citizens and as I was passing by, I spotted the book sitting one the shelf, so I grabbed it. I'm so very glad I did!
I just read a bunch of the Blue Blood Series by Melissa De La Cruz, think a mix of Twilight and Gossip Girls. Yeah, real high brow but it was quick reads and entertaining in the slightly embarassing way.

I should have written down all the books that I have read, but didn't.
Anyhow.... for those of you that read Sarah's Key went to the library last week and someone had just returned the movie version so they nicely checked it in for me and then I checked it out. Watched it on Sunday night and OMG!! it was great. I watched most of the bonus features, missed 1 or 2 I believe but a must watch is the bonus features!!
I loved the book Sarah's Key, but don't have net flix - I'll keep an eye out for it to buy, thanks for the recommendation...
46. Lost in Time - Melissa de la Cruz
47. While we're far apart - Lynn Austin
48. Hide in Plain Sight - Marta Perry
49. Broken Laces - Rodney Walther
47-49 were free kindle books, I would say I enjoyed While we're far apart quite a bit (of the three def. the best) but it has some adoption themes...
I have slowed way down in reading, was hoping to get to 60 for the year back in Sept. now I'm shooting to get to 52.
37. The Help. LOVED IT!
38. The Mermaid Garden by Santa Montefiore - This story had all the makings of a spectacular book, but fell short. It was about a young, poor Italian girl who fell in love with a wealthy Italian boy - she got pregnant. The story flashes from the past to the present, and I enjoyed the past much more.
39. The Jaycee Duggard book - One of my tenants gave me this book to read. It is written by Jaycee herself. VERY difficult to read - this girl went through so darn much.
I have about 6 books sitting here, but haven't had the chance to pick them up in a while...

I got Sarah's Key on Redbox last week - loved it!As for books? Oh geez, I've done a HORRIBLE job recording this year!!!22....I did re-read Breaking Dawn, haha!23. Angel of Death Row: My Life as a Death Penalty Defense Lawyer (really enjoyed this one)24. Escape from the World Trade Center (a Kindle eBook only I think)25. Death by Honeymoon (a little depressing reading after I got married...)26. Chasing AmandaGotta check my bookshelves for others!!
I have not kept track. I read soo much. A lot of what I read is whatever is free on Kindle. Right now I am reading Longing by Karen Kingsbury, something not free. My son has told me I have to read Clockwork Prince next. (Since he was little I have read everything he reads so we can discuss it, it started out when his reading level was so much higher than his age and he loves it so it continues) So that will be next, I think my last one was something by Dean Koontz or maybe Ted Dekker.
