Adoption.com has helped me in so many ways. I was under a different screen name at the time that I found adoption.com however, so much has happened since the last time I logged into my other account. I should start off my saying, my name is Angela Joy Daugherty and I was born on May 18, 1984. My bmother put me up for adoption at the age of three months.
I knew that I was adopted from the time that I was six years old. My amother is Asian and my afather is Caucasian. Naturally, I started asking questions and my parents told me that I was adopted. I wanted to find my bparents but didn't really know where to look.
My life really changed in June 2010. I was on Facebook and decided to start looking for the midwife of my adoption. I found a woman and her name looked familiar but wasn't so I messaged her anyway and did alot of praying. Turns out that it was the midwife of my birth and she messaged me back with, "I have been looking for you!" She also told me that I had two older sisters. That rattled me to the core because I never knew anything about older sisters. She gave me her number and told me to call her.
This was the weekend of Father's Day too. I called her the day before Father's Day and we had a three hour conversation that was VERY emotional. She told me somethings that I never thought that I would actually hear. It was awesome! :)) So we ended our conversation and I went about my day.
I thought that it would take months or years to find my bfather. Oh no! It didn't! An hour after I got off the phone with the midwife, she calls me back and says the words that would rock my life and change it forever! She told me that she just got off the phone with my bfather and to call her back. I nearly dropped my phone. I could not believe it. I called her back and we talked again and she gave me his number. I thought to myself, "What better way to do this then to call him on Father's Day?!"
Father's Day came and I was soooo nervous. I almost chickened out. I got my phone and dialed his number. He answered the phone and I started talking to him and couldn't believe that I was actually talking to my bfather. We had a 30 minute conversation and it was a good one. He told me that he had three other children from another marriage and I said, "Ok, so they are younger than me, right." He said, "No kiddo, they are all older than you." I was in shock! I was the youngest of 6! How cool is that!
That is how I found my bfather. I am writing a book about this and hope to have it done by the end of this year. I hope that adoption.com will support it. Thanks for reading my post! :thanks:
