This is an FYI to all IN foster parents. I just learned this yesterday and thought I'd pass this on, in case you are ever in the same situation as my friend, in my previous post. No foster child can be removed suddenly from your home, without a valid reason. If a caseworker shows up and says she's removing one of the kids, you have the right to say no. You can then call for a case conference to discuss why they think moving said child is in the best interest of the child. They have to comply and have a meeting within 10 business days. And the Dept is not allowed to remove the child in the meantime. At the case conference, you can ask any of the team members to be there, along with the parents of the child. You can also ask the parents what their opinion is. You even have the right to bring the case before a judge. I wasn't aware that we had any rights at all, so this was eye-opening!Just thought I'd share it with the rest of you.
