We turned in our application January 17 and started our classes in March. We finally got our caseworker to come do the initial walkthrough which took about 15 minutes. She said that our packet would be passed on to her supervisor and the contractor to do the home study....at some point!!! In Oklahoma, whats required for the home study?? I've asked many times and the caseworker said absolutely nothing is required. I'm thinking that doesn't sound right. Can anyone help me with this??
:thanks:
Are you doing foster to adopt or private agency?
I'm just now seeking adoption options, but I performed Oklahoma kinship/foster placement home studies in my previous job with DHS/Child Welfare.
Here's a link that officially states what is covered in a home study:

When I did studies (this has been years ago), we mainly checked for cleanliness and age-appropriate safety of the home. (Child guards and hazardous materials out of reach if age appropriate.)
Hopefully that is of some help. Maybe someone who has recently undergone a home study can chime in.
Here's a link to another article on what to expect:

Oklahoma requires a walk-through of the home, backgrounds, fingerprints, and they will then compile a written statement about you, your partner, your families, your lifestyle, your financials, how long you've been married, etc. The home study itself takes no time, it's just getting the caseworker to actually write it. It could take months. OKDHS is not a speedy nor an efficient operation.
