I contacted our licensing worker on Monday asking her to put us back on the list. Taking wagers on how long it takes. Last placement, we waited four months and basically found the placement ourselves (a family member). LW is always very quick to respond, but I have heard nothing about the other questions I had for her. I think it's gonna be awhile. What'cha think?
Post and you shall receive. We took 2 separate placements tonight.
One will just be an overnighter. The other, well we don't even know his name and he insists on keeping shoes on. We can work with that.

I GOT A CALL!!!!!!!
And I had to say no!
ARRGGHH!
10 days from now, we could have. The heart monitor and ng tube would have been hard.
Which one of you sweeties told them to call me.
Yay for a call... Boo that you had to say no. I hate when that happens.
We are on hold until Monday, so it has been a quiet week. Still wondering about the sibs we were called about.
And mystery boy is still here for the weekend at least.
Hope your phone rings again soon. Hey, at least you know you are on their radar.
I got that call friday too as we were driving to MI but they didn't have her in care yet.
Wonder where she ended up?

Do they know any more about Mystery Boy? Did they ever figure out who he is and his name? I've never heard any story quite like this and was wondering what DCS does in this type of situation.

We did learn Mystery Boy's name after about 5 days. By then we were just going by a nickname.
They tried looking him up inthe system and were eventually able to get bio to tell them more info.
He is gone now and we have new kids here that came yesterday. Busy busy!

I ended up getting this little one. She got admitted to Riley on the 17th and I picked her up friday. She has a cleft palate and a new Gtube plus the heart/apnea monitor.
She is a sweet VERY TINY one. Just hit 10lbs today at 6 mths. She has 8 doctor appts already schedule all at Riley or the Eastside of Indy and mom gets to be at all the appts.

Finally you have a girl in the house! Yay!! Sounds precious. My DD was 11 pounds at a year old, so I have an idea of how small that is.
I think you are gonna be busy with this one!
Oh, I'm so glad. How is she doing? My daughter that turns 14 tomorrow was super tiny. She was just under 10 lbs. at 6 months and had only made it to 13 lbs. by her first birthday. They gave her every test in the book to determine why she was so little. After they exhausted every possibility, they started listening to me. I had said it was related to FASD. She did later develop thyroiditis and has been on synthroid for years. She weighs about 95 lbs. and probably is about 4'9" which is great.
6 months and counting! Gail Bray asked me today if we still wanted a placement when I went to the Rate training.
Anyway, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

I bet talking with Gail will make a difference. It seems when I see her face to face that I always get calls soon after. If I don't see her and want a placement I will either email her or CC her on emails to my LW.
From some of my conversations with Gail, she seems to not be a lot of kids in the house at one time person personally. She doesn't seem to get us crazy FP who like the chaos of a full house.
Also the whole FASD scares her quite a bit. She told me that if we ended up adopting our current little one who has FASD that we would probably be done fostering or adopting again. My head was thinking "WHY" would you say that? I think she personally would be done but IMHO others of us are wired a little different and thrive in an environment with more children.
Last night, we moved a second crib into my son's room so that Lil Bit can be in there awhile. I am itching to redecorate a very girly room since it looks like she will be with us a very long time. Told my husband that we will just leave the crib up after we finish the girl room just in case. With all her medical needs, I am not ready yet for another little one but definitely don't think she will be my last one.
Don't read any of this as Gail slamming because I personally am a huge Gail fan and think she does a great job. She has worked for DCS a long time and has seen so much both good and bad. I really value her as a resource.
