I was curious if anyone is getting any referrals or if things are that slow in PA? We are legal-risk foster-to-adopt for more than 6 months and haven't received any referrals to even consider in the last month or two. Things seem to take a long time in the "system". One girl we inquired about we were told it'd be 6 months until they even completed her child profile. The other group of kids we inquired about we were told it'd take 6-8 weeks before they began to narrow down the pool of families. It's no wonder kids languish in the system.

hi! new here! Hubby & I were just licensed to foster/adopt in may 2011! I can't believe how long people are waiting for placements since all I heard from the agency is how badly they need foster parents. I thought they'd call us immediately. I guess since we are looking more towards adoption they are trying to match us w/a child who has no chance of reunification & is a good match for our family! I'm just praying the wait will pay off in the long run! Good luck to you!
We were licensed in Jan 2011 and in March decided to foster with the goal of RU while waiting also to be matched. We are looking to foster and or adopt girls ages 4-15 and are pretty open to the type of child or children we can care for. And still we wait! We inquired about lots of kids on the SWAN website with NO luck. We have gotten a few referrals reguarding possible matches for foster/adopt with NO luck. We have gotten a few calls for children but they were sibling groups of three with children under the age of 4. (did it one time and decided it was not for us!) We've learned that the system is really slow. I email our AW once a week to let her know we are still here. Make sure you do that so no one forgets you. Have you tried going to matching events? Have you looked on the SWAN website. There is one next week in Lancaster that we will be attending.
Hi! My husband and I have been going through this since last December, we've had 4 referals total. We are looking for 1 boy up to age 7 who are legally free to be adopted, 2 referals were for 3 siblings, 1 was for 2 boys who had to be picked up the same afternoon as the referal and were not free for adoption and the last one which we were seriously considering was placed in another county before the case worker even saw our family study. You are not the only one suffering from anxiety. The waiting is completely killing me!!!!
Been waiting over a year....
No referrals from our caseworker. I've done tons of internet research trying to find a match. Keep sending them to my caseworker...to no avail. We rarely if ever hear anything back, and if we do its SOOOO involved that we couldn't ever even consider it as we have 2 kids already.
Still trying, but getting frustrated.
Our mantra: "If God wants this to happen, He'll make it happen."
