I'm not sure about the NJ laws, but in IN, I was able to request Non-ID through the state. I had to give my name, b'day, aparents names and they sent back the info. I suppose if you were adopted, that would be one way to find out. Have you considered approaching any other family members? Have you seen pictures of your Mom when she was pregnant, or anything like that?

I copied this from the forum I mentioned. I should have thought of that to start with! Sorry. On summer break. My brain is disengaged. It would be the most definite, but for the cost of the stamp you can fill out the state paperwork, wait 6 weeks, and see what they have to say.Not that I'd give up on a DNA test...Another thought, do you know the hospital you were born at? "If" you're not an adoptee, you have the right to get your medical records. Request the ones of your birth.

I know nothing about DNA testing, but if I were trying to find something out, this is where I'd start:dna test - Google SearchWho's your daddy? You're not even sure you're adopted? But you DO know your birthdate, how about your birthplace? I can't imagine anyone not being willing to tell you that much! Even if you saw your birth certificate it would be a new one, replacing the original, with the parents you know replacing the originals, if it's even true you're adopted. The date and place should remain the same, however. It could be some other circumstance that your mom finds awkward and you could still be her natural child, so don't jump to conclusions. All kinds of weird family secrets out there! Try reassuring her that no answer could make you love her less, but that you need to know the truth, whatever it is. And I'm sure that is true.
