I'm brand new to researching adoption and still have some questions I haven't been able to find answers to.
Does Georgia allow independent agents to do homestudy for domestic adoption, or must we use an agency?
Օ If we do our homestudy in GA, can we still adopt foster children from other states?
If adopting through the foster care system do we still need to create a birth mother letter?
Օ Do we need to create a letter to the child if older?
Thanks for your help.

No one answered our questions through this forum but through our own experience and a few bumps in the road we are now well on our way to adopting through foster care. I see we are now 16 months passes the time I originally had these questions.
Georgia does allow independent agents to do homestudy for domestic adoption and we attempted this at first but discovered a Christian agency that partners with the state was the fit for for us and because we were adopting an older child there will more than likely be minimal fees.
Օ If we do our homestudy in GA, can we still adopt foster children from other states? Yes! Your paperwork is duplicated for that reason by the person who does your homestudy.
If adopting through the foster care system do we still need to create a birth mother letter? No. Either the parents are surrendering their rights or its been relinquished for them. If you want to write one to send to her after the adoption that would be kind.
Օ Do we need to create a letter to the child if older?
No. The people you are working with deal directly with the case managers and group homes. You will need to create a one page summary about yourself, what child(ren) you are open to and a photo so they can send them to local or state case managers out of state so they can match you with their kids.
Hope this helps and God bless you on this journey!
