I'm an adult adoptee. I also work with clients in outpatient behavior health. I had a client today insist that the Social Security Adminstration will assist in a search. The client stated he gave his bmom's maiden name, photos and some other info to the SSA and they told him they'd contact her and see if she wanted reunion, or send medical info or they'd let the client know if mom was dead.
I've never heard of this. Have any of you?
Thanks.
I'm interested to see what the responses are to your question. I, too, heard the same thing you did about the Social Security Administration a few months ago...but I don't know if it's true or not.

i remember hearing about this service when I began searching 15 years ago...
I know IRS has a letter forwarding service. IRS Letter-Forwarding Program: Forwarding Letters to 49 or Fewer Individuals
I got a notice thru them that my amoms past employer could not locate her (she was deceased) and there were funds for the estate that were never collected.
and, I found this to share with you.
