She gave birth to me on July 29, 1955 in a hospital in the city of Glendale, Los Angeles County, California. She was 30 years old at the time of my birth. She was not married at the time of my birth but had been married once for 3 1/2 years. The info I received came in the form of a letter that she had written to my adoptive parents. My adoption was completed before my birth and I was delivered to my adoptive parents on August 2, 1955. My birth mother was baptist, but had graduated from a catholic high school...in Colorado, I believe. She may have been born in Colorado. I am not sure about this next info, but I think at the time of my birth, my birth mothers parents may have been in Colorado, ages 54 & 56. I also understand that my BM's mother had come to live with her 3 months prior to my birth.
The letter my adoptive parents received from my BM, Lois Nadine Yarnell, also stated that she was 5' 6", brown hair, blue eyes and fair complexion. She loved sports, ballroom dancing, wrote poetry, loved crossword puzzles, camping, trips to the beach and mountains. She did typing, shorthand, light bookkeeping, PBX in her job as a secretary. She was of Irish/German descent. She stated that she and my birth father had no plans of marrying.
The adoption legalities were handled by " The Law Offices of Gitelson, Ashton, Moore, & Coyle" in Los Angeles, California.
My adoptive parents, whom I love with all my heart and are still both alive and well today, are James & Dorothy Croker.
If you read this, and can help me locate my BM, or know of anyone that can, please email me at adoptee55@hotmail.com I am very new at searching for her so if you can tell me where else I can list this info I would appreciate any info. I have been told that there are sites that Birth Mothers also list themselves looking for the children they gave up for adoption. If you can give me the names of these sites I would appreciate it also. Thank you, and good luck to all adoptees looking for relative and for birth parents looking for their children.
Once again, Thank you.
