Another question...since per diem rates do not cover child care expenses. What creative alternatives have you guys come up with for summer child care? We have the school year already figured out. We both work.
My husband and I took the introductory class this week and are thinking about pursuing foster care. We are not parents so we have a lot of questions. You guys have already been very helpful, thanks!
Look around for affordable day camps. I'm from another state, but there is one by me that takes children at 8am and you pick them up after 5pm five days a week for 6 weeks. It runs about $800 which isn't bad at all. I'll be saving up monthly for the camp in the summer.

Sorry, I said it wrong. IN does include child care in the per diem but I hear that day care costs are much more than the per diem.
If they are school age check with the school social worker, they can give you info on programs that are available to foster children. There also are two summer camps that I know of that are low cost or no cost to foster children,Happy Hollow and Jameson camp.Hope this info is helpfull.
The best way to protect children from not playing outside on the streets and become ill is taking to the Summer Camp. There are various organizations providing the summer camps, These are also providing many entertainment and knowledge gaining programs. They are conducting reading, writing and many mathematics oriented competitions which provides a way to acquire knowledge for the people visiting there. They are especially for attention gaining of the kids. They are providing many games and other activities for the children to gain knowledge as well as to provide entertainment for them.

No, when it was $25/day it included some money towards child care, when base rate went to $18 it was without child care costs in consideration. Unless they gave it back since Dec . . .
I guess what I'm trying to say is that child care has to come out of the per diem they pay us. They don't pay you extra or reimburse you extra (above & beyond the per diem) to obtain & pay for childcare. They told us we have to use our per diem to pay for childcare and that we'd be responsible for anything above that. We can't get reimbursed for childcare expenses separately. They do provide vouchers but they are hard to come by in our region.
There are many summer camps conducting all over the world. All the camps are for the entertainment and for providing a way for enjoyment for the people visiting there. These are also providing many entertainment and knowledge gaining programs. They are conducting reading, writing and many mathematics oriented competitions which provides a way to acquire knowledge for the people visiting there. I would like to thank the members of the forum for promoting the post.* They are especially for attention gaining of the kids.
