We were able to share our son's story in Church. Everyone in church knew he was adopted (he is 15 mo old now) and they know basic info. But we had not told everyone that his bmom tried to abort him not once, but twice. I'm not ashamed of his story, it just never came up in conversation! He has a testimony that I am proud of. We know that God has a special plan for his life and we are blessed to be a part of it.
When his bmom found out she was pregnant, she was 21 and had a 4 year old and a 13 mo old. Her husband beat her in the stomach to make her abort. When that didn't work, they made an appointment with an abortion clinic. Because she was in her second trimester, they were going to charge her $500. They didn't have the $. So they chose adoption. She used meth until well into her 6th month, she smoked pot, took prescription pain meds, and smoked up until he was born.
Our son was born at 37.5 weeks, weighed 6lbs 13oz. He was born addicted, He went thru methadone treatment for 6 weeks. He is 15 months old now and his only issue is MILD asthma! God is good. He has hit all of the milestones for an 18 mo old and is well into the milestones of a 2 year old. Our pediatrician keeps telling us that he is a miracle. I keep saying, ""I know!"
God has a great plan for this little boy's life and I feel honored and humbled that He is allowing us to be a part of it!
Anyone else want to share your story? I love seeing God at work in people's life thru adoption!
I thought I would chime in, if you don't mind a birthmoms view. :-) I feel like God had a plan for where he wanted little man to be, because the pieces all fell together so very unexpectedly and perfectly. I had a friend who was going to adopt little man almost from day one, but around month five that fell through, which left me in a jam as to what to do. So I got on-line and found an agency and they sent me info and profiles. I went through them and tentatively picked three couples but I wanted to talk to my daughter first and have her help me choose the "right" one. I didn't tell her I was pregnant until month six, and I never got very big, so she didn't notice on her own. When I did finally tell her, she told several of her friends and one of them said "so I know this couple......" They had already adopted once and really wanted family member #4, we got together and they just felt right, from the very first meeting. They live about 30 minutes away from me and have been very willing to have an open adoption and I really do think that there was a guiding force that put me in their path, at exactly the right moment.

I love our story too! We have a beautiful healthy 4 year old son that we adopted at birth. His birthmom was in prison for drug related charges. We began an open adoption with her and it has turned into a special friendship.
Through our conversations, kindness and much prayer, she has become a believer and has a brand new life. God has worked in amazing ways! (like He always does!) We can't believe the ways he has used this adoption.
Previously we had a failed adoption and if that hadn't happened we never would have crossed paths. God's plans are so much bigger and better than ours!
Nortonbaby - I agree! It is such a joy to share his story! I love your story, too! God allows us all to sin as much as we want, but EVERYTHING can be used for His glory! Congrats!!
