We were just told that our FD's case has gone into permanency. The first permanency hearing is Thursday and we will be meeting our new case worker after that.
The law guardian said that it still can take a year from this point.
Mom has not done anything, doesn't show to hearings (except 1 where she came high, popped positive for all sorts of drugs), no visits in 8 months. She told her family that she would relinquish, but has not done so, so I doubt she will, it will just drag out. :(
For those who have been down this route, what should we expect?
Yes for all three of my kids it took a year from permanency until we got to the TPR (termination of parental rights) trial. With kid #2, one month before TPR we had a mediation at which mom and dad relinquished their rights to us. With kid #3 we had a mediation months before TPR but since the parents did not show, nothing happened and we just had to wait for TPR. Just got it so now we're moving on to adopt her.

Gigi - were your kids bios a frequent no show at court hearings too? The CW told us this is why it is delaying it till this point and if she keeps at being no shows, it will delay TPR too. Pretty frustrating.
Well 1st kid no show for visits, 2nd kid consistent visits, 3rd kid consistent visits for one year and then disappeared.
It was my understanding it took so long to get the court date because of the court being so backed up and it took that long to schedule.
