Need help with information on a private adoption

My husband and I have gotten to know 3 children, ages 10, 8 and 6. Their mother is dying of cancer, and each child has a different father, but all are not in the children's lives--2 are in Mexico and 1 is in jail-long term. Their grandmother is the only one left to care for them and she is unable to b/c she is raising 3 of her other grandchildren. The mother does nto have much time, and we would like to adopt these children before they have to enter foster care. Does anyone know the steps I would need to take in order for a private adoption to be legal?

Depends on your state. We had a similar situation and we hired an adoption attny and let her handle it all. She reresented us both and we paid for it. Is the kid's mom on board with this? If so, it should be fairly simple. Again, depends on the state. God bless!
