How long for I800 approval

Three weeks but we had to get our Senator's office to contact USCIS (mid-June this year) because USCIS told us our paperwork was there but they wouldn't even look at it for another week. So our approval would end up taking 5 weeks which was longer than our i800a approval and i800s are supposed to be priority over i800a's. Senator's office got a response the same day that it had "just been approved."Turns out friends on other adoption boards were having the same issues. I ended up getting our approval a week before friends with same receipt date. So I think it helped having the senator's office contact them.Have you called USCIS? What have they told you?
