I was born May 7,1964 in Butte, Montana. I was placed for adoption the next day. My adoption was handled by a judge(name unknown) and an attorney(name also unknown). I have been give very little information from aparents or siblings. I know my bmom was named Sue, she had red hair, green eyes and was 5'2". I am not sure if she was actually from the Butte area or not. My aparents have passed and going through paperwork i have never found any adoption papers. The only bc I have lists them as my parents. I dont know if there is even a paper trail. Does anyone know what I can do to find out more information.:thanks:

Since the adoption was private and the judge told bmom that there would never be any record of her giving birth to me, would there be an original bc?
YES !! Back then no one imagined that adoptees were going to start demanding their records and fight for changing the laws that sealed their records, that deny them their right to know

is the NonID info the info that is on the original b/c. I called the vital statistics today and found out I do have an original b/c but would have to petition the courts to have my adoption records unsealed. Not sure if I want to do that yet. I am going to send for my b/c and go from there. I am so scared though
Non ID info is the information that you have a right to that does NOT identify your b mother but instead info like her age, nationality, maybe why you were relinquished.... That information along with the information on your original birth certificate may be enough for YOU to identify her and FIND her. Your original birth certificate will have her name and maybe her age, if she was married, maybe your b father's name and maybe how many other children she had already given birth to. You DO have a right since you were born before 1967 to that original birth certificate. Request your OBC and request your non id info at 1st if you want and let us help you search. Then you will have complete control over when, if, how to make contact. Montana does have an OPTIONAL intermediary search program that involves petitioning the courts for IDENTIFYING info and them doing the search and contact to see if the other party is willing to have their contact info passed on. This is done by a lic. intermediary. You are not allowed to see that identifying info. Of course you are scared. Reunion is life altering but just knowing who you are, getting those missing pieces, usually brings great PEACE I am sending you my personal email address and am willing to help you search once you get some info :wings:
