Hello all, it's been a while, as you can see from my sig, since I've been on here. We were recently shown a video of an older child currently in Foster Care in So Cal. We fell instantly in love. He is available for adoption and of course I have no idea if we would be a good match for sure yet, but I am currently waiting to get phone calls returned to get more info (some things never change apparently).
We have only done international adoption and I am wondering if you need a dossier for this process similar to what you put together for an international adoption? For instance, do I need to start ordering recently certified copies of my kids' birth certificates. Will they all need physicals? Also, we do not live in CA so we would be particularly interested to hear from anyone who adopted from CA from out of state.
Any info or resources you can share would be most appreciated. THANKS!
Do you already have a foster and an adoption homestudy that is current? If not that would be the first step for a CA kiddo. All CA kids are foster for 6 months first before an adoption can go final.
Also, CA doesn't usually do TPR until an adoptive home is found. This can happen right away after placement or a few months. So the kids are considered low legal risk but legal risk never the less.
Good luck on your journey.
