Hi All, My adoption journey started a few years ago so I am a little frustrated to say the least. My husband and I have been advertising in newspapers for 6 months now with only 2 calls. Is anyone else experiencing similar problems? I was thinking of stopping the newspaper ads altogether and using adopthelp instead. Can anyone tell me of their experiences and costs please? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
My husband and I decided to put our profile online at parentprofiles.com. My sister, who has a business helping adoptive couples write eye-catching and accurate online profiles, helped us put together a really nice profile. We put that profile on parent profiles.com and had over 30 contacts in 5 months. We were matched from that site within 6 months of our completed home study. I would recommend going online to anyone...I think birth moms are searching online a lot more than in a newspaper...
I would also say though that you really need a good profile. You have to know how to accurately represent yourself to birthparents. I see so many profiles that are really turnoffs. Also, you have to be careful of scams (we dealt with two out of the 30 some). Hope that helps...feel free to PM me if you want to talk! Waiting was so hard for me but it was SO worth it!
