So frustrated! We were suppose to sign our adoption papers this week and finalize in two weeks (Thanksgiving week) BUT no one has heard from the county social worker. She is not answering emails or phone messages for the past two weeks. This has been a roller coaster of a ride with this SW all these months and now this. We are on the edge of our seats afraid something will go wrong when we love this little one with all of our heart. How do you handle the final stretch before adoption without having to go get ulcer meds. :grr: We are already 4 months past when were suppose to adopt due to paperwork error. Then we were suppose to adopt on National Adoption Day but SW missed the deadline and now no one can reach her.
Just had to vent!

It's time to call her supervisor. It's possible she's on vacation, overwhelmed or maybe even has left their employment (happens all too often). Giving the supervisor a call to confirm your adoption date is not rude. Simply explain that numerous calls haven't been returned.

Call a supervisor, then the director. That's totally unacceptable!

Our FFA is afraid to rock the boat and do not want to "push" her as the SW has all the power. I am sick of this game. I will give her until the end of the day on Tuesday then call the supervisor.

Called supervisor but had to leave a message. No calls or emails from the county as of this evening. I will call back tomorrow and keep trying until I get to talk to someone that can give me info. SO FRUSTRATED.

On a positive note, the fact that you are signing the paperwork and getting a date means that the appeal period is over, so don't get an ulcer. Budget issues have significantly affected the county as evidenced from when I adopted which was during the financial upheaval of our state etc. Breathe...e-mail always worked better for me, do you have anybody's e-mail?

DannieAs, thanks for looking at the positive side of things.
I and our agency has been doing both emails and phone calls for 3 weeks but no one gets a reply. I am now trying to reach the supervisor but due to National Adoption Day events no one was in on Thrusday and office is closed on Friday. I will try again first thing Monday morning.

Finally got a call back today. IF she gets the paperwork finished and she was just starting on it this afternoon then we can come in and sign this week or next but it has to be done before she takes 3 weeks off in December. There is another adoption she is working to get done as well so at least I know we are not alone in this craziness. Thanks for listening to my vent. I will post when we get the call to go sign the papers!:thanks:
