We are in the beginning stages of domestic adoption. We started out with on agency and even submitted a formal application. We decided to go with another agency that required less money up front. We have been working on that application.
Just recently I learned about adoption facilitators and discovered Lifetime. It seems a little bit scary to me being so new to the process. I don't really understand how it works without an agency.
I would like some insight along with pros and cons of an agency and a facilitator. Also if anyone has had experience with Lifetime or with Lifeline Children's Services in Alabama please PM me. Thanks for your help.

We adopted using facilitators twice. The first time, we thought we were using an agency. The facilitator marketed themselves as an agency, and we didn't know any better.
The second time, it was a fluke. We had been waiting almost 18 months, had had two failed matches through an agency, and I happened to see a situation on a facilitator's web site. I responded on impulse. We were matched and our daughter was born 2 months later.
I don't recommend using facilitators. In general, all they do is find you a match. You have to do everything else yourself. After they match you, they have your money, and they have no incentive to keep helping you. There are some facilitators who aren't like that, but the number one complaint about them is that they take your money and run.
I hope this helps.
