I haven't found a whole lot of info on adopting through photolistings in Indiana so just curious if anyone in this group has done it? We have fostered since July but want to be forever parents. Originally we were focused on infants and toddlers but have recently changed to school age kids and have one sibling set in mind that we have inquired about. Anyway, any advice would be welcome about the process. Will we need to have our own lawyer? I know how the state is about giving you information so I am trying to do a lot of research on my own! And I know Indiana doesn't have a state subsidy but is it possible that 2 school age kids would get a federal one? Anyway thanks in advance and feel free to PM me too.
P.S. This would be a cross-county adoption. Even if the process was quick (haha) they wouldn't move kids during the school year would they?

Yes, you still need an attorney. Even adopting as foster parents, we have to get our own attorney. Most will get confirmation from the DCS office regarding the childs eligibility for the adoption payment of $1,200 for the attorney fees and just have their payment waived until that comes in.
The federal subsidary is still determined by the state. Basically you start at $0 and have to justify the medical needs of the children as to every penny you get up to the maximum amount those children would get as foster child per diem.
I do not know if they will move kids during the school year. I think it would depend on the kids.
I have not adopted from the adoption list. We are preadoptive placement for our FS that we have had since he was 5 weeks old.

I have found a wealth of information reading the case worker procedure manual online. It basically steps out everything the cw has to do and all of their policies. Its on in.gov/dcs. just search for the case worker manual or for a specific topic. I also read the Indiana court of appeals decisions on TPR to get an idea of the timeframe on cases and to see what cases end up in TPR and what are overturned by the court of appeals (not many). It has helped calm my nerves as we head to TPR next month. (ITS FINALLY NEXT MONTH!!!)
