To say I had a poor upbringing would be putting it mildly. I feel this is a large contributor to my desire to save the world, make a difference in the lives of others, do meaningful work and of course, to become a foster parent. I have 4 children of my own who are great kids and have spotless records 19-10, I am a CASA and I have an absolutely spotless adult record. Whats not spotless? My juvenile record. At 13, I was charged with a felony (not disqualifying) served some time in Juvenile Hall and spent 5 years on formal probation. It is the one ding on my record and something that happened 23 years ago may very well prevent me from being a Foster Parent. :grr: All of our course work is done and all forms are complete. My case has been transferred 3 times because of this and I was just told it will likely transfer again because the current worker is working on cases form 2012. I sent in all of my court papers and explained the situations. I had my Juvenile record sealed about 10 years ago but that is irrelevant when it comes to these types of background checks. I am pretty frustrated with the system at this point and I am really starting to see this as a sign. I can be a CASA and pass that background check but not to be FP? I know there is a chance the state will give me a waiver but arrrggghhh!!!!!
