My husband and I are just starting the process of becoming foster/adoptive parents. We have just begun classes, only had 1 so far. Just looking for some advice on the process. What items are required to buy before licensed and what can wait until after. I want to be sure we are going to get approved before I buy a lot of stuff. We are looking at 0-10 so thats a lot of stuff we would need to cover that age range. Any advice on getting through the licensing process and all the interviews & inspections are appreciated. Don't have any bios but my 16 y/o sister does live w/us, just curious what kinds of stuff they will ask her. Just barely started and I am already stressing out about all that has to be done! :D
:thanks:

Welcome! We were not asked or required to buy anything until the last visit in our homestudy. For us that took place after all of the classes were done and all the background checks and paperwork were submitted. When that was all completed this is what they wanted to see: locked cabinets, baby gates, fire extinguishers, portable emergency stairs, earthquake kit and a safety/first aid kit. As far setting up the room we have a similar age range and we did a twin bed, toddler bed (not really necessary but I got a deal) and a crib. They also wanted to see an empty closet and a chest of drawers. We needed extra sets of sheets and towels dedicated to the children. The toys, books and clothes you can do as little or as much as you want. We were allowed to wait on car seats until we actually know the age/weight of the child. I hope that helps!
