Question...We me with the county agency and I told him that we wanted to get started since it takes so long, (based on what I found online) He said it really doesnt take that long 30-45 days, and I was shocked and asked about classes and such, that I thought took longer. He said that they do them all online, I think he said it was 12 hours, but that you could do it in your own time over a weekend or whatever. We decided to go with a private agency, since they work with surrounding counties as well, and I asked her about time frame and she said 30-45 days as well (as I mentioned in my first post), she also mentioned online classes.
The thing is I havent seen ANY reference to online classes and training here as opposed to actual classes? Has anybody heard of them, or done them instead?

Every state/county/agency does it different. I could see doing them online. I don't think you would get much out of them on line but then I am not sure I got much out of the 12 3 hour in person classes either ;)
We just had this question during our MAPP class. Our instuctor told us that they were offered, but that our county will not accept online classes.

Yeah, that.
In Michigan we had the option to do them in person or on our own with a take home book. We read the material and answered a series of questions in a packet about what we read. Hubby liked that we could do it at "our own pace" and could talk about what we read.
We are in Florida and we just went to an orientation this week for a Children's home here. They that if you are pursuing private adoption that you can do online classes. If you wanted to foster then you have to go to the 10 week course.
