We are in the end stages of our adoption. We held up our adoptions for a medical diagnosis. Now we are starting to worry we will not get the girls passports in time to travel overseas to stay with family before they retire(10months from now). Have any of you applied for a passport for your pre-adoptive/adoptive placement? Especially before finalization or the new birth certificate? We are wondering how long it takes? We've also heard to avoid sending anything thru the Seattle office, because they are very tuff on adoptive applications. Any experience would be great. Thanks!
J and B came home in May. We were planning on traveling the next year. I told cw and she came with us to submit the applications. I paid and was reimbursed. We applied in Feb./March and passports came in May. CW had to send in additional paperwork. Have fun!!

Thanks Millie! I was hoping that as long as the judge and caseworker submitted legal letters that would help out. We have the chance to spend a month & half over seas and figured we'd go for it. A once in a lifetime trip. Just getting the kids their passports was the only hang-up. We have been waiting on purchasing the airline tickets because of it :-/ so I'll call the adoption worker and see if we can see if she will go to a passport apt with us. So we don't have any delays or hiccups in the processing process.
Good luck!! I'm in NY; I've only needed bio parents permission. With J and B, TPR occurred so DSS just needed to give permission. I stayed on the CW;s case. We went when the new rules went into effect and I wanted to go ahead of time.
