Praise the lord I found a therapist IN the town I work who does EMDR. Now I am scared to death! what do i expect?
Eye rolling from your teen, and some verbal resistance. Hopefully though she'll do it and even if she doesn't believe it, it will work!

Are you interested for yourself or for your teen?
This won't be "tell me your childhood for 3 years." They will take a brief overview of the problem/ trauma/ history, then identify things to work on.
Here's some info from their site.

So glad you found this therapist!
My account was banned from Adoption.com as "Rude to Admins" because I had requested a thread to be removed. After they had not removed it, I requested again, and then again. The owner of this site apparently do not care about privacy, they only care about being paid by selling ads. They also deleted my posts saying such.

LOL, OOoooops.
My friend said it was almost like being hypnotized, but she was awake/aware the entire time. And at the end of the session the huge emotional weight was just gone.
Let me get this straight. Our crazy kids can actually drive us crazy? This is not a figment of my imagination? Perhaps all this therapy money has been misspent on the wrong person. Certainly, it hasn't done dd any good. :hissy:
Yep, it's hereditary....you get it from your kids!
Seriously though....parenting an emotionally damaged, angry child....is an abusive relationship. Of course we will need therapy to cope... :) and drugs if you're lucky! LOL
B has been doing it for almost a year. When he started, he was defiant and obnoxious. Now, he is so pleasant!! it's a complete turnaround. It hasn't been consistent as this doctor doesn't take insurance; but he has improved dramatically. J had it during talk therapy; his therapist utilized EMDR therapy years ago.
