We finally made it to orientation earlier this week. It was packed. Of course, they drilled it into everyone that if you're there to adopt a healthy newborn you're going to be disappointed. They've even now separated their Foster and Adopt groups, taking classes separately. None of the other info was new to us because I've been reading and researching for so long. DH was a little overwhelmed though. The next groups of classes are starting in Jan or March. Even though we're excited to get started NOW, we've decided to wait until the March session. We'd really like to be moved into a new place by then. We currently live in a small duplex that neither of us like much. Felt good to get that first big step over with. Now we have the preliminary application packet which is a daunting. DH is not a very "sharing" kind of guy and is not enjoying all the questions...lol.

Yay! Congrats to you and your start! We went to ours yesterday. We had been so excited and looking forward to it, but it was underwhelming to say the least. That may be because we've spent so much time reading and researching? It was scheduled to be 3 hours long and we were done in half that time. They mostly went over the stuff in the packet and took questions. And even the answers to the questions were vague. Strangely there was very little discussion around the children that would be coming into our care. We got all the application stuff though, so we are glad to get started on that!
