We have finished our PATH classes here in TN and are now waiting. During this wait, I have completed the paperwork, completed the home safety checklist (baby-proofing), built a wall to make another bedroom, purchased a crib/toddler bed, car seat, etc. I have done all I can and we are still waiting. The Homestudy is suppose to start DURING classes and that didn't happen. Now we are several weeks out and nothing. Ugh! The wait is killing me and we aren't even approved yet! What else should/can I do?
As an aside, I am not the only one not contacted yet. Others from class have not been, either. I have left 2 messages with the hs writer with no responses to either. What would you do? Wait and be patient? It isn't like I don't have anything else to do (homeschooling mom to 4 and human mom to 9 mammals and 7 chickens). :woohoo:
Let me just say that I already like you because you have chickens!! :woohoo: That is too cool! We also have a "zoo" but no chickens.
Anyhoo, I went through the process several years ago without completing due to a divorce, and things have greatly changed in our state (SC) with licensing, etc. However, in talking with other foster moms from all over the country they seem to all have the opinion that around the holidays things start getting CRAZY. Not just the fact that the CWs are trying to tie up loose ends before the new year, but also things get downright insane with families and seem to increase the need for emergency placements during this time. It may be the stress of the holidays. I think it impacts all families, especially those with issues that erupt and require the state to step in. This increases the CWs work load. Not trying to stick up for all of them - from what i hear some are not exactly motivated. Ours seems to be very knowledgable and on her game but i wouldn't count on that from most. So, just hang in there. We finish our last training class this Sat so I'm almost right there with ya on the hurry up and wait thing. Calling and touching base never hurts though...

I live in TN too and just finished our classes 2 weeks ago. In our class they did all kinship families first and then we got a phone call one week after we finished our last class and our first home study is tomorrow.
That seems quick to me! We have been done with class for 3 weeks and have not heard anything, yet. We have everything done, so hopefully once she does come it will go quickly. Thanks!

We are new chicken parents and are loving it. If only they would start laying...It is like I am waiting for everything around here! LOL
There is only 1 lady in our region who has the exclusive job of "homestudy writer." I can't really touch base with her because she is on the road most of the time (and besides, I have tried 2 times with no luck). I don't really want to annoy her since she WILL be writing our homestudy. I guess I just need to be patient (for eggs and fosters).
Are you in East, West or Middle TN? I'm in TN also and we were liscensed about a month ago. But I think the liscensing worker here will be out for several weeks on medical leave.

My husband and I are FP in mid TN as well. Feel free to pm me and we can chat about experiences!
I did email you back and haven't heard from you again. Maybe it went to spam? Or you are totally busy with all your little ones??? :prop:
We did finally have our first hs visit yesterday and it went well. She seemed impressed that we had so much done and ready. With the holidays ahead our next 2 visits won't be until early January, but that is ok. At least it is moving.
I am a new foster parent in Middle TN. Would any of you ladies mind if I private message you to introduce myself? Just came upon this thread. So glad to see this!
