We have finished our PATH classes here in TN and are now waiting. During this wait, I have completed the paperwork, completed the home safety checklist (baby-proofing), built a wall to make another bedroom, purchased a crib/toddler bed, car seat, etc. I have done all I can and we are still waiting. The Homestudy is suppose to start DURING classes and that didn't happen. Now we are several weeks out and nothing. Ugh! The wait is killing me and we aren't even approved yet! What else should/can I do?
As an aside, I am not the only one not contacted yet. Others from class have not been, either. I have left 2 messages with the hs writer with no responses to either. What would you do? Wait and be patient? It isn't like I don't have anything else to do (homeschooling mom to 4 and human mom to 9 mammals and 7 chickens). :woohoo:

Let me just say that I already like you because you have chickens!! :woohoo: That is too cool! We also have a "zoo" but no chickens.
Anyhoo, I went through the process several years ago without completing due to a divorce, and things have greatly changed in our state (SC) with licensing, etc. However, in talking with other foster moms from all over the country they seem to all have the opinion that around the holidays things start getting CRAZY. Not just the fact that the CWs are trying to tie up loose ends before the new year, but also things get downright insane with families and seem to increase the need for emergency placements during this time. It may be the stress of the holidays. I think it impacts all families, especially those with issues that erupt and require the state to step in. This increases the CWs work load. Not trying to stick up for all of them - from what i hear some are not exactly motivated. Ours seems to be very knowledgable and on her game but i wouldn't count on that from most. So, just hang in there. We finish our last training class this Sat so I'm almost right there with ya on the hurry up and wait thing. Calling and touching base never hurts though...
