Good Evening Everyone
I am currently in a perfect adoption situation with a very good friend of mine. She has 3 children and is currently pregnant. She has asked me to adoption the new baby. After speaking with lawyers in to states( interstate adoption) I have realized I can not afford the adoption cost. I am heartbroken.
What are my other options? Guardianship?
Any helpful information would be very greatly appreciated.

I would not advise guardianship as it is often too temporary---unless you feel your friend may want the child back in due time. I realize adoption is expensive, but it truly shouldn't be very expensive when this is going between two people who already know each other and I would *think* the hospital bills and such may not be an issue???
First, I would consider talking with another attorney. Attorney fees can vary as much as milk in grocery stores. ") Don't give up hope just yet!
Additionally, some attorneys will allow you to make payments. This may be an option. And, you could always consider taking out a loan, putting some on a credit card (as long as you know it can be paid off quite quickly), or going to family/friends/church for a loan. I would NOT borrow money until you are certain your friend absolutely wants to release her baby for adoption to you. This is a must, IMO. Too often this 'matching game' approach puts a lot of pressure on biological parents as well as adoptive parents to place or accept the baby. I get that your friend may very well place this baby with you; but much can happen if the due date is far into the future, or, soon after birth when people can have a different view of adoption altogether.
Just be more certain before placing any monies down to anyone, KWIM?
I hope this helps and I wish you well in this journey.
Sincerely,
Linny

Move to or Rent in Friends state, and then Adopt without Multiple Attorneys in each State!!
Your cost is basically in Attorney's Fees.
With 3 Kids as Living Expenses, and Medical.
Is your Friend asking for these payments also, and if no why not please??
I agree also with Linny about Guardianship.
Well said also!!
