Hey Guys!
My husband and I was originally going through our adoption process, but have recently decided to switch to fostering first. We have no children of our own, he is 28 and I am a couple months shy of 24, we are both completed with college and have stable jobs in our field, so we thought this would be a perfect time to foster for several years, and then later adopt. We have only completed our first application and are in the middle of our fingerprint process. I know that we will go through GPS classes and a CPR class, but can some one fill me in on what PRIDE is? I have seen it mentioned several times in the forums, but unaware of what it consist of?
Also, do you think it would be a good idea to go the route we are taking. We would love to help the children and thought we would get great parenting experience along the way!
Thanks for any advice!
PRIDE stands for Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education. The link below has more information about the generalities of the class as well as other pre-adoption classes.

Fostering can be a great way to start and who knows the child that is the perfect match for you and your husband might be a placement in your home.
Good luck :)
MrsHP: Buckle up for an exciting adventure! My husband (30) and I (27) just got licensed to foster on May 30. We do not have any biological children. We are so thrilled that we chose to foster first! We were placed with two sweet brothers 2 weeks ago. Not only are we getting great parenting experience, but by fostering, we are getting some help from other resources along the way! We are not doing it for the money but it sure helps when you are getting a stipend and WIC (since they are under 5). We are able to have babies in the house and not have to worry about the financial strain of things!
I am in Texas and it was not called PRIDE. In fact, I don't think it was really called anything but pre-service training.
Good luck! This will be such a blessing for you and your husband to love on these kiddos!
