Just a little vent.
Yesterday afternoon I got a call that the smoke detector requirement had changed, and they either needed to be hardwired and interconnected, or wireless and interconnected. The call came in right before a big meeting, so I couldn't leave work to rush to home improvement stores trying to find what I needed. After work, I scrounged together the $267.00 to buy all new smoke detectors for the house. Then it took two hours to install the little buggers. Easy to install, PAIN in the bum to program.
Long story short, I'm going to be really upset if I fail the fire inspection for something else after busting my budget for this! We just had major repair expenses on a property we own, so the budget is REALLY tight at the moment. Will free up shortly. But wow. Bad timing.
Anyway - not sure if anyone else has hit this one yet. Apparently it's biting all the currently licensed foster parents as well when it's time for them to renew.
Oh and if I fail this inspection, then the next one is in Oct. I have to relicense by Oct, otherwise I have to start the WHOLE process over again (it will be 2 years since we closed our license).
I'm so nervous. They should be here any minute now.
Wish me luck, please??
