I am adopted and was born in Maine in 1961. The agency that handled the adoption was St. Andres in Biddeford, Maine. I sent for and received my original birth certificate in April of 2013. I researched online and found my birth mother. I also found out that I have 4 younger half brothers. It took me awhile but I sent a letter to her in July of 2013 and never heard from her. In April of 2014 I called and spoke to her. I asked her if she had received my letter and she said she had. She kept saying "I need more time" . She said she had not told any family members except her husband because he is the one that answered the phone. The phone call was about 1 minute long. I know my expectations were that we would meet and get to know each other, but that is not happening. I feel so rejected. I don't know what to do. She is 74 years old and I'm not sure how her health is. Some of my half brothers are on facebook and I would love to contact them, but feel it is her place to tell them about me. What should I do next or should I leave her alone?
