Welcome. First, if your handle is your name you should consider changing it. When you foster, you'll need some anonymity and with the internet, any type of identifying information can be found. Yes, there will be naysayers. If your heart is in it, go for it. Please do your research. I went into it with the idea that love is all that's needed. That's so not true.
